Konica Minolta unveils breakthrough colour system at IPEXStand: 9-DE340, Hall 9 Milton Keynes UK, 21 April 2010 Key to the image quality and stability for the bizhub PRESS C8000 is an entirely new eight-beam laser engine made from die cast aluminium for durability. This allows eight bit resolution for output at 1,200 by 1,200 dpi for ultra fine image quality using Konica Minolta’s patented Simitri HD (high-definition) toner. To ensure consistent colour densities through long print runs the bizhub PRESS C8000 uses an IDC (Image Density Control) sensor for real-time colour density adjustment and balance. Substrate media handling is excellent with weights up to 350gsm for single-sided print and up to 300gsm for perfecting print (duplex). An air suction belt feeding mechanism ensures reliable paper feeding for a wider variety of media with a hybrid decurling mechanism to significantly reduce paper curling by providing the right amount of moisture to the paper after printing. For durability and reliability the bizhub PRESS C8000 has a rigid all-steel construction. Parts and consumables are designed for long life replacement cycles. To minimise the need for stoppages during long print runs both paper and toner can be replenished ‘on the fly’. In common with the entire Konica Minolta professional production print system range, the bizhub PRESS C8000 offers a flexible choice of online finishing options including large capacity stacker, hole punching, folding, stapling, saddle stitching and perfect binding. For Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd, Pauline Brooks, Group Product Manager for the Production Print Division said, “The new bizhub PRESS C8000 is a breakthrough system for Konica Minolta taking us into the high-speed digital press sector for professional print production. The system offers outstanding image quality and image stability over long print runs, with output comparable to offset litho quality. The bizhub PRESS C8000 represents a significant R&D investment and is clear evidence of Konica Minolta’s commitment to the production print sector. Following its preview at IPEX the bizhub PRESS C8000 will be commercially available for the UK market later in 2010.” Ends.
